top 10 kpop songs of the week: 5.23.21 to 5.29.21

check out our 10 favorite songs released by kbands, kpop groups and solos this week

#10 – AB6IX – Geminin

AB6IX‘s vocals shine in this single released for Universe music, and production flourishes give the track a celestial quality that matches its zodiac theme.

#9 – Ben&Ben ft Young K – Leaves

Filipino band Ben&Ben‘s collaboration with Young K of DAY6 brought us to tears with its poignant uplifting lyrics, expressive vocals and truly gorgeous accompaniment.

#8 – Taewoo – Pause

Through soft guitar and emotional vocals, Taewoo perfectly captures that longing we all feel to make the good times last.

#7 – Choi Cello – View

Indie artist Choi Cello’s unique voice is set against a chill backdrop in this tune full of poetic, imaginative lyrics.

#6 Dine On ft. Eames – Unreal

Kband duo Dine On just debuted this year, and their fourth single featuring Eames shows off a low-key jazzy sound that we can’t get enough of.

#5 – Mingyu & Wonwoo ft. Lee Hi – Bittersweet

Bittersweet proves that Wonwoo and Mingyu can masterfully branch out beyond Seventeen‘s rap line, and with the airy vocals of Lee Hi added to the mix, you can imagine hearing this song echoing from a club while you lounge on a sandy Havana beach circa 1946.

#4 – GWSN – I Can’t Breathe

As it shifts from verse to chorus and back, this B-side from GWSN‘s album moves from light and ethereal to dark and dramatic, and in so doing reflects how everything in you can heighten when you get near someone you desire. By the final rap verse, the track becomes pure madness, and you feel as if you’re as lost in the passion as the girls are.

The lyrics to Minsu‘s Healthy Food sound like someone discussing their diet plan, but when you add in her one-of-a-kind vocals and quirky production, the whole thing seems disordered, reflecting how one can become hyper-focused on what goes into their bodies to the detriment of their mental health.

#2 – Gaho – Rush Hour

The calendar still says May but Gaho‘s latest single screams summer. It’s a windows-down, radio-all-the-way-up rocker that could get you through the worst gridlock.

Baek Yerin‘s kband The Volunteers‘ debut album is a skip-free, must-listen, but this song stands out with its haunting melody set against powerful rock backing.
