Every day in May we’re counting down our favorite kpop music videos from 2010 to 2012.
Spinning in at #25, isss…
…Touch by miss A.
This is absolutely gorgeous, and that would be reason enough to include it on this list; however, what we liked most about it is that it perfectly shows the shift between the music video styles of the early teens to the more divergent MVs that started to come out in the following years.
Some of the dance sequences look very much like other MVs of the time with the girls are dramatically lit in a strange room in matching costumes.
But in between the dances, there are close-up shots that defy the conventions that were used in most videos. At this time, most videos did close-ups as extended front on shots of the members either singing or posing. miss A takes a different approach. Here are a few examples:
There are also a number of artsy clips that if viewed in isolation could have come from the MVs of today, showing how ahead of the times this video was.
And for that, it’s found its place onto our list. You can stream this video released on February 19, 202, below. Stop back tomorrow to check out #24.
