top 10 kpop performances of february 2021

count down the best stages and dance covers of the month with us

Even with all of those scandals and the great Spotify culling, February was a good month for kpop with exciting debuts and strong comebacks from established solos and groups. When compiling our list, we focused on choreography and performance visuals, considering more than 60 entries. For songs where there were both music videos and live stages, we did not focus on one particular video but the overall series of performances. Now that we explained the methods to our madness, let’s start counting down…

10. Rewind – ONEUS

ONEUS never fails to give unique, exciting performances, and their post-comeback stage for Rewind was no exception. We love how clocks were incorporated into the choreography again and again.

9. Like You – QODES

Two of QODES four members teamed up for this incredibly sweet dance video of their dreamy song about having a crush. Even though the song has a mellow sound, the choreography is bright and bouncy, reminding us of that spring in your step that comes from starting to fall in love.

8. Love Me Right – CIX

Everything about this cover of EXO’s hit Love Me Right is flawless from CIX‘s dance steps to their visuals to their vocals.

7. All or Nothing – WEi

Bold and powerful just like WEi’s new single, the choreography for All or Nothing blew us away. We especially loved the transition that occurs right around the 2:45 mark.

6. DOOM DOOM TA – TRI.BE

In every single stage since their debut, TRI.BE pulled off their choreography with exacting precision, and it’s proof that a dance can be playful and still oh-so memorable.

5. Paranoia – Kang Daniel

Everything about Paranoia has proven to be perfect. It was our and our readers’ top song of the month and number four on our monthly best music videos list, and the stage has more than earned a spot on this ranking. The combination of monstrous arm movements and Daniel‘s charismatic visuals allow the dance to drive home the meaning of the song.

4. Wings – PIXY

Confession time: when I heard the name PIXY, I thought we were in for a bubble gum girl group. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Wings is a soaring, spooky masterpiece song, and the choreography perfectly complements both the silky, ethereal verses and that dramatic chorus.

3. Bicycle – Chung Ha

A song with lyrics as suggestive as Bicycle needs a dance that is just as seductive, and Chung Ha‘s choreography proved the perfect fit. As always, her facial expressions help to sell it, and there are plenty of unexpected creative moments like the lift that occurs around the 2:00 mark.

2. Tail – Sunmi

Much like the song itself, the choreography for Tail goes from alluring to aggressive and back again so much it makes your head spin, and we love all of the ways that the theme of the tail was worked into the steps.

1. My Future – Yoojung of Weki Meki

This modern dance performance gave me chills the first time I watched it, and I still hardly blink even with so many repeat viewings. It’s an absolutely gorgeous storytelling dance that Yoojung executes with so much grace and expression. If you missed this Billie Eilish dance cover this month, do yourself a favor and stream it right now.
