top 10 kpop songs of the week: 1.31.21 to 2.6.21

check out our 10 favorite kpop songs released this week

QODES – BE ME

I really don’t understand why more people aren’t talking about QODES. They debuted this week with six songs, and I loved every single one of them. Be Me stood out, though, thanks to Lamda’s impressive rap skills and the overall menacing, powerful vibes that the track gives off.

DALsooobin – Sign

DALsoobin’s solo work never fails to impress, but Sign might just be my favorite of her songs. Her smooth vocals and the overall production combine to create a song that lures you in like a siren, perfectly presenting the seductive lyrics.

QODES – LIKE U

QODES can do sweet and chill as expertly as they pull off fierce, and LIKE U proves that. If you could hear a newly formed crush, this is what it would sound like: soft and just the right amount of shy.

Baekhyun X Chamgmo x Raiden – Runner

I do not follow e-Sports but after hearing this collaboration, I’m cheering for Team T1 to dominate LoL. Baekhyun‘s vocals, Changmo’s rap and Raiden‘s expert mixing give this song the triumphant quality you want for a team anthem. Plus, it’s a total earworm.

Purple Kiss – Can We Talk Again

Goddamn, if this is a predebut song, what can we expect from their debut? Can We Talk Again shows off Purple Kiss‘ vocal power. Being the baby sisters of MAMAMOO means having big stiletto heels to fill, but after hearing this single, I don’t think these girls have to worry.

Youra – PINK!

Singer-songwriter Youra‘s new mini album GAUSSIAN has zero skips, but PINK! was the track that drew me in the most. The production really highlights the gorgeous texture of her voice.

CIX – Cinema

In a departure from CIX‘s usual style, all five members sing in the title track from the new mini album, and rap lines are eliminated completely. It lends a light ethereal quality to the song and captures the simultaneous nostalgia and hope for the future that the lyrics convey.

BIBI – Eat My Love

BIBI’s cute voice, playful lyrics and groovy production give this song the feel of that stage in a relationship where you simply can’t get enough of that special someone.

CIX – Young

Vocals, rap and production are all flawless in this B-side track, and their combination perfectly matches the defiant, confident message the lyrics convey.

CIX – Everything

As you can see by now, we LOVED CIX‘s new album. This track proved to be our favorite, as every single member shines through their lines, creating a love song that expresses real emotion and a maturity that has me looking already looking forward to their next album.
